Research On The Intervention Mechanism In University Classroom Teaching Using Learning Analytics

In the era of smart education,with the rapid development of science and technology,the application of technology in education can reform traditional teaching methods and explore new ways to promote the development of education.Education shows great concern for students so that teachers can not analyze and judge students status traditionally.Teachers find out students' problems,judge status and forecast the the trend of development based on the data and facts so that they can help students in a better way.Learning analytics which bases on data instead of subjective experience is a new concept and technology.By data collection,data processing and data analysis,learning analytics can predict students' development tendency,judge whether students have a risk of failure and provide help to students to ensure teaching quality and some students' personalized needs.Through literature analysis,investigation,design-based research method,class observation and other research methods,research makes certain study thoughts which from learning analytics model to dimension,from intervention mechanism to the application and evaluation of intervention mechanism.Research on the intervention mechanism using learning analytics will promote further development of application of learning analytics in education.Firstly,this paper summarizes the existing study on this topic from both domestic and foreign scholars and find out that current learning analytics researches pay more attention to the design of model and framework,the subjects in research are mainly adult learners and the research environment is mainly network platform.Nowadays,the research on learning analytics focus on data collection and analysis.However,the application of learning analytics is seldom referred in documents,especially the intervention on students.So it is necessary to take advantage of intervention mechanism based on learning analytics,design and implement intervention to improve the quality of learning and solve the needs of students.Secondly,this research extracts elements from various learning analytics models,and designs a learning analytics model.The implementation of learning analytics is a cycle process which includes data collection,analysis,visualization,prediction,evaluation and intervention.Under the guidance of the model,this research includes data collection,data analysis,intervention design,intervention implementation and intervention evaluation.Through static and dynamic information acquisition,this paper analyzes background information of students,study habits,meta-competence,innovation ability and academic record,and find out the existing problems of students.Then this paper designs intervention mechanism which is the research emphasis and discusses it from intervention classification,intervention model,intervention strategies and intervention procedure to explain intervention model.The intervention model based learning analytics includes five principles and eight processes.Five principles include integration,dialogue,reference frame,hierarchy,agency and eight processes include grounding,goal setting,curriculum adaption,course learning,habit formation,capability upgrading,goal adjustment,reflection.The intervention procedure includes prevention intervention,learning process intervention,habit formation intervention,meta-competence intervention and innovation intervention,this procedure emphasizes iterative approach to analyzing and modifying the intervention strategies to refine intervention mechanism and stimulate students' development.Finally,according to the survey of students,the results of survey show the development of students of knowledge acquisition,innovation ability,ability promotion,individual feelings,self reflection and so on.Combining with the changes of students in class observation,the intervention mechanism using learning analytics gives guidance and help for students indeed and the intervention strategies are effective.
