Critical thinking(CT)is a purposeful process,during which the individual gives reasoned consideration to evidence,context,methods,conceptualizations,and criteria and ultimately make a rational judgment.CT contains two parts: critical thinking disposition(CTD)and critical thinking skills(CTS).The former concerns about the faith,attitude and will of CT,and the latter concerns about the thinking skills.Foreign researches on CT have been carried out for many years.In recent years,researches on college students' CT have gained more and more attention of the scholars.However,the main focus of the studies are on English majors,and there are few studies on the Sino-foreign cooperative class students.If these students can be cultivated CT during their at home study,which will be of great necessity for their abroad study and life.In the view of this,the purpose of this study is to investigate the current situation of Sino-foreign cooperative class students' CTD and CTS,and to further explore whether there are differences between different majors and grades on CTD and CTS.In this study,270 college students of the university were chosen as the subjects for the questionnaire of critical thinking dispositions(Wen,CTD)and critical thinking skills(CTS)and they came from mechanical engineering major and electronic information major(M&E),international finance major(I)and arts and design major(A).The result was analyzed through SPSS.Meanwhile,8 students were randomly interviewed afterwards.The research shows that:1.The overall situation of students' critical thinking disposition is in a weak level and their critical thinking ability is weak,too.2.When comparing students' CTD on different majors,there is significant difference among different majors.There is significant difference between international finance major and arts and design major on the Social aspect of the second-level,the Rationality aspect of the third-level and the Analyticity,Truth-seeking and Cognitive maturing dimension of the fourth-level.Besides,there is significant difference between mechanical engineering and electronics information major and art major on the Analyticity dimension of the fourth-level.As for their CTS,there is distinct difference among different majors,too.3.Regarding to the students' CTD on different grades,there is no significant difference on the first-level,the second-level and the third-level.On the fourth-level,there is significant difference between freshmen and sophomores on the Inquisitiveness dimension.As for their CTS,there is significant difference between freshmen and sophomores as well.4.There is no correlation between students' CTD and CTS.This research suggests that teachers should pay more attention to cultivating Sino-foreign cooperative class students' CT in their future teaching process.Consciously strengthen and enhance their capabilities in this area according to the characteristics of different subjects,so as to help them not only on their domestic learning,but also on their adaption of foreign life.
