English as an international language plays an important role in our communication with other countries in the world and in a good command of the world advanced science and technology so as to promote the rapid development of economy and society in China.English is an important course in middle school teaching.English,as a foreign language with its own uniqueness for students to learn and master,has become the focus and difficulty in English curriculum reform.At present in Sandu Shui-Ethnic Autonomous County(Hereinafter referred to as Sandu County)Rural Junior Middle School English classroom teaching,English teachers work with more efforts than teachers in other subjects and students also put a lot of effort,but they have made small achievements,and teachers and students lose interest and confidence in English teaching or learning.Although the Sandu county promoted the new curriculum reform in 2016,in the implementation process,the teachers encountered great difficulties.The reason is that the existence of the old model had a conflict with the new curriculum reform of teaching ideas and teaching methods in Sandu County Rural Junior Middle School English classroom teaching.Teachers and students do not adapt to the reform of new curriculum teaching method and so on.Therefore,this thesis tries to make a study of Sandu County Rural Junior Middle School English teaching and learning situation,analyzes the problems and possible causes,and puts forward the corresponding teaching suggestions,in order to provide some reference for rural junior middle school English Classroom Teaching.Through the investigation,this study has found some problems with English teaching concepts and methods and some common problems with the students' learning in three middle schools in Sandu County,i.e.Jiaoli,Dahe and No.Three middle schools.The teachers were only speakers in the teacher-centered classroom,while the students rarely participated in activities without interactive learning.Students seldom had any activities that were organized for learning English,at the same time,teachers have very little opportunity to participate in activities for teaching study at the county level.In the aspect of students,most of them think that English is very important in the entrance examination and the external communication,but due to poor foundation and other causes,many students don't understand teaching content;in the case of large learning pressure,many students could not work independently.Nevertheless,there are some obvious differences,which are mainly reflected in poor results of the students' English study and they have completely lost interest and confidence in English learning;as for teachers,they still hold old teaching ideas and teaching methods,and carry out the exam-oriented education,with no idea of student-centered teaching.All these have caused this inefficiency with English classroom teaching in junior middle schools.Furthermore,in Sandu County,the rural junior middle school English teachers' professional knowledge is generally at the low level.They lack theories of English teaching and updated knowledge.There is certain disparity between their own professional abilities and the demands of the modern education reform and innovation;in classroom teaching,some teachers are not clear about the teaching goals and student-centered classroom learning,in addition to students learning values deviating from right values,poor English foundation,bad learning habits,and lack of learning confidence.All these have resulted in the English teaching quality lagging behind.The thesis finally offers some constructive suggestions: first,making innovation of rural school management system;second,setting up the correct teaching concepts and promoting their professional level;third,arousing students' interest and developing their confidence in learning English,strengthening their learning initiative,so as to build a harmonious relationship between teachers and students and optimize English classroom teaching and further promote the better teaching quality.
