The Study Of An Individual Case On The Invol Vement Of Social Work In Aiding Leftbehind Children

In 1980 s,China started the reform and opening-up.Due to the change in development mode of economy,more and more people have flooded to big cities for more opportunities and better jobs.However,they have to leave their children with their other family members in the hometown because of the household registration system.This has caused an increase in the number of left-behind children these years,which has become a more and more serious problem.The huge number of leftbehind children and the corresponding problems have not only caught the attention of the central government,but also gotten social workers involved to develop various ways to solve the issue.In this paper,by using literature in this field,I studied the background of the issue and the current situations of left-behind children,explicitly stated the importance of the involvement of social workers,and used the case of Xiao Jing as an example based on social work theories.During the oneon-one talk with Xiao Jing,I used various methods comprehensively to develop possible ways and skills to solve this issue.Based and focused on a specific case,I analyzed the various roles of social workers when they are involved in the solution to left-behind children issue.The fact is,on one hand,social work has an advantage of professionalism,which is a good supplement to government through flexible involvement and focus on individuals;on the other hand,however,social workers are facing a dilemma due to their own status in society,lack of information,and deficit of resource.In addition,I came up with some suggestions on fiscal financial aids about involvement of the society as a whole.Also,I stated that,for team building,we need to educate the social workers,create professional teams,and develop volunteers.Only by combining the three parties can we push it to another level.
