Compared with junior middle school studies, what is learned in senior high school is more challenging. Many students who did well in junior middle school mostly found it hard to adapt themselves to the high school studies-The most depressing problem is their lower exam results, which often occurs during the transition from Junior Three to Senior One.If not solved properly, this problem will directly influence the results of the students'college entrance examination. Therefore, the smooth transition from Junior Three to Senior One is getting more and more important.Based on Piaget's "cognitive development stage theory ",Vygotsky's "theory of the zone of proximal development" and constructivism learning theory,in the light of pedagogy and psychology and through the methods of questionnaire survey, interviewing and data analysis, etc.,the present study aims to explore the transition problems in Senior One English teaching and learning, such as listening, speaking, writing, vocabulary, grammar and so on,especially for those students with different learning experiences and tries to provide some corresponding solutions. The case study focuses on the students of the two classes in Senior One,Hua'an No.1Middle School in 2015.The research results show:1)It is necessary to carry on the English cohesion teaching during Junior-to-Senior-High-School Transition.2)The decline of the results is mainly due to the different requirements of students'achievement, where junior middle school focuses on the basic knowledge, and senior high school pays more attention to ability, which is aqualitative leap.3)The study also found that the English level of different learning experiences of students is uneven,so the teaching method should vary from person to person. To solve the cohesion problems,we suggest that teachers should take classroom teaching method, the content of teaching materials and the students' learning habits into consideration;moreover, the school, the family and the whole society should take it seriously and make efforts to offer some help.Although there exist some limitations in the present study, the writer also hopes the survey can attract more people's attention to the transition period from junior middle school to senior high school, not just to the surface level of knowledge, but to a more comprehensive transition,so as to help students better adapt themselves to high school studies.
