English teaching in senior high schools is not connected with that in junior high schools, which is becoming more and more serious and has a strong impact on the result and quality of English teaching of senior high schools. In the common senior high school English learning as their staring period, especially in senior Grade One most students can't adapt themselves to their English teachers' teaching methods which inevitably lead to the the transition problems between junior and senior high school English teaching. Compared with learning in junior high schools, the students in senior high schools feel difficult to be adjusted to the vast amount of knowledge, higher request of capacity and learning methods. Then how to make freshmen in senior schools adjust to the English teaching of senior schools is what the teachers in senior schools care about. The existing poor transition from junior middle school to senior ones in English teaching and learning is a problem challenging all the English teachers.English teaching of junior high schools and senior high schools are two stages of basic education which come true in one line. But with the further development of English teaching of senior schools, the connection of English is more and more outstanding. And quite a few students have begun to dislike English when they begin to study English at senior schools. What's more, some Grade One students of senior school quit the chance of learning English. This kind of polarization gives us a hint-we must solve the problem of connection of English teaching. This is a task which brooks no delay. Then, many more students will be fond of learning English and even learning more English, so that we can improve the teaching quality in an over-round way. The teachers in senior high schools must follow the brand-new education ideas and put the reasonable and effective teaching methods into practice, so that we can make the students at different levels realize the connection of English studying.From the angle of cognition theory, any cognition of new thing is based on and developed from the jet-known knowledge. According to Jean Piaget, new experience inter-works on the previous existing cognition structure and makes some change to the structure so as to adapt to some more new things. Thus English teaching procedure is one in which the previous-existing cognition structures are based on and constantly changed by new things. During the procedure of proceeding step by step, if there emerges a gap, the gap will surely spread its influence, thus influence the whole English course. So it is necessary to study the transition means to ensure a smooth learning course, so as to improve the students in English.With the background of "connection" research, the author defines "connection". Taking the theory of Constrctivism Theory, Jean Piaget's cognitive developing phrase theory and educational environment theory as the theory bases, through the investigations into the connection of the English teaching of the common senior high school (Hubei Tianmen Zaoshi Middle School), this research analyzes the current situation of it and the reasons of existing problems:the textbooks (New Senior English for China) have changed several times and can't offer the complete knowledge system; the teachers of senior schools should improve their aptitude for language teaching to match the connection education; the students are tired and afraid of learning English; the departments of educational administration can't manage in unison; the lack of the integrate evaluation, etc. We also expound the ways and countermeasures from many aspects in order to solve the problem.All the factors above are among the causes to a hard transition. To ensure a smooth transition, the following solutions are suggested:1. The teachers need to develop the students'interest in English study and adapt them to the new surroundings.2. The teachers need to conduct the students'psychological guidance and scientific learning method guidance.3. The teachers need to enhance the efficacy of classroom teaching and carry out the suitable teaching strategies.4. The students need more help in employing suitable learning strategies.This article focuses on how to transit and connect English teaching steadily from junior high school to senior high school in a period of senior high school. It is believed that, if all work together scientifically, the transition from junior high school English to senior high school English will be a smooth transition, which will help to improve the teaching and learning of English in senior schools.
