Classroom learning environments and their academic achievements are closely related, which is a potential indicator of students' future development, and any educator who wants to improve teaching quality can not afford to ignore it.In view of this, this study primarily investigates the students' perception of their actual English classroom learning environments in one of a high school of Changshu city and their expectations of the ideal English classroom learning environments to help teachers gain an insight into how to organize high school English classroom. Then the correlation between classroom environments and the students' academic achievements is studied so as to provide useful and helpful information for foreign language teaching and teachers. The study centers on the following research questions:(1)What is high school seniors' perception of the actual classroom learning environments?(2)Is there any correlation between high school English learning environments and the students' academic achievements? If yes,to what extent?(3)What are the ideal classroom learning environments for high school seniors?A questionnaire,a test and an interview are used as the research tools to answer these three questions in this study. After the quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis, the findings of the study are as follows:Firstly, the questionnaire results of the sample show that the high school seniors' overall perception of high school English classroom learning environment is of medium level, indicating that they are relatively satisfied with the current high school English classroom.Among the nine dimensions measured, the students have the best perception of Task Orientation, while teachers' innovation receives the worst perception. But on the whole, high school classroom learning environment is positive and acceptable.Secondly, the students' perception of classroom learning environments and their academic achievements are closely related to each other.Especially classroom participation, equality and teacher's guidance are closely related to and strong predictors of their academic achievements. In addition, the regression analysis shows that teacher's guidance predicts students' academic achievements positively while teacher's innovation negatively. The above conclusion has also been verified by structural equation model analysis.Thirdly, there exists a gap between students' perception of the actual classroom learning environments and the ideal ones. The interviewees generally agree that an ideal classroom learning environment should be one that can offer a relaxing atmosphere, increase their knowledge as well as cultivate their abilities. The findings of the study provide useful enlightenment for foreign language teaching: comfortable classroom environments can benefit learners' learning,as foreign language teachers, they need to attach importance to creating good classroom learning environments to improve students' learning.
