English is a key subject in language learning,which plays an important role in communication.According to The New English Curriculum Standards of Compulsory Education and the request of examinations,the status of listening and oral English is gradually improved.The students in the junior middle school are required to have fluent and standard oral English abilities.Stress and intonation are important parts of English phonetics,and they should be the key content of daily Oral English teaching.As the author,I did empirical investigations for the two classes' students in Class1Grade2 and Class3 Grade2 on the problems of Oral English between September,2016 and September,2017.At the same time,I delivered four hundred copies of questionnaires to four junior middle schools in three districts in Daqing.The content of the questionnaire is about stress and intonation in spoken English to investigate the existing problems on stress and intonation of the junior middle school students,as well as to design and formulate the strategies and methods to solve the problems.Through the questionnaire and the observation,it is clear that the junior middle school students have serious problems on stress and intonation in English.For example,they can't accurately master the position of the stress while reading the words and students often use the heavy accent reading methods to read the passages.What's more,they often read the statements and interrogative sentences in the wrong way.For these specific problems,the author organized the students in class to imitate the standard intonation and accent of tests reading,using the Internet and electronic equipments to learn by themselves and improve English stress and intonation,in order to promote the inner language potential of the students and to improve Oral English level efficiently and effectively,especially to achieve accurate accent and standard intonation.
