At present, adolescents have suffered from depressive symptoms frequently, which has serious impact on their academic performance. This study aims to explore the influence mechanism of junior high school students' academic performance from both family and school perspectives.Based on the data of 2013 China Education Follow-up Survey(N= 19487),using the structural equation model, this study explored the impacts of family support(parental involvement)and school support on academic performance through the mediators of depression in seventh-grade and ninth-grade junior high school students. The results showed that the family support(parental involvement)and the junior high school students' academic performance were negatively correlated, this may be related with the junior high school students'role transition;the increasing of the school support level will promote the junior high school students' academic performance;the mediating effect of depression level is verified both in the relationship between family support(parental involvement)and academic achievement and between school support and academic achievement. This study not only proposes a new theoretical development framework based on social support theory, social control theory, and elastic development model, but also provides a basis for related social work policies and practices.
