Funeral Rites And The Social Logic Of Operation

Funeral is an important ritual in human society,which carries the imagination of the individual to the meaning of life and the immortal soul.The research on the funeral rites has made a lot of achievements,but it is the ritual as an independent part of social life,from the cultural point of view to explore the cultural significance,symbols and social functions,there is a lack of research on the funeral rites from the perspective of governance.Through combing the specific ritual process,this article incorporates the ritual into the daily life of the village,from the point of view of governance to seek the functions of the ceremony may play.The author believes that the funeral rites of the Qin Cun first expressed the life and values of the members of the village,such as the lives and the things.Secondly,the ceremony realized the integration of various social relations for families,marriages and village groups,which provided a good foundation for village governance.The participation of funeral rites in village governance is reflected in the fact that village cadres have shaped the informal authority of individuals by participating in funeral ceremonies,and through using such authority,informal rules and marginalized evaluation mechanisms formed in rites,in such as the land adjustment,the daily dispute mediation and so on to realize the simple and effective of the village governance.The dual recognition and action units based on the family and the group form the mechanism that influences the governance of the village.The study in this paper reminds us to pay attention to the possible role of folklore in the construction of villages with traditional culture and rituals.Folklore,as a governance resource,can effectively achieve the integration of the village internal order.Under the irreversible marketization background,only by fully tapping and protecting the village's endogenous resources,cultivating village endogenous forces,and realizing the integration of the village's internal order can we effectively connect with the country's top-down system and resources input,and realize the revival of rural construction.
