In the course of teaching,teachers form their teaching styles by continuing accumulations,and it is the essential link to pursue the positive and individual teaching style in teacher’s professional development.For an English teacher,forming a positive and individual teaching style means perfection of teaching ability,which is the ideal state that each English teacher has been pursuing for.However,on the way to be a teaching master,as well as in the pursuit of the process of forming individual teaching style,English teachers may encounter some problems which is a subject that deserves our attention.This study summarizes in two points: 1)with two English teachers as the main subjects for one semester case study,a proficient teacher with 11 years teaching experience,and a novice teacher who works for one year,recording teachers’ characteristics of teaching style and capturing the changing details.2)based on class observation and students’ feedback to contrast the effectiveness of their teaching styles.Through the teaching progress of the two teachers,the object of the research is to explore the problems that may appear in teachers’ process of forming teaching styles,so that providing practical experience for more English teachers.The study has found that,the two English teachers are facing some common issues: fuzzy cognition in teaching style;unitary teaching style and lack of initiative in developing teaching style.And scanty training and huge teaching pressure are main obstacle factors.In addition,the novice teacher should acquire teaching method with unceasing adjustments until it is right for herself.Although the proficient teacher shows her strict and introverted teaching style,due to its simplicity,students expect diverse teaching styles from her.Focusing on the above problems,the author puts forward the countermeasure to promote teachers’ teaching style development,by considering the cognition and practice,schools and teachers: raising the consciousness of teaching styles;providing the development opportunity and exploring the way for teaching style development. |
