In recent years,the ecosystem that we are depending on is being severely destructed and deteriorating.Schools are shouldering huge responsibilities for not only the learning of cultural and science knowledge and the cultivation of students' abilities,but also the emphasis on the eco-education.Pupils are the future of a country and their awareness and ability of eco-protection determine the future of economic development in China.Therefore,it is an urgent and compulsory course to enhance junior students' eco-education.This paper takes the primary and secondary schools in southern Jiangsu as an example and analyze the existing problems and causes of the current situation of ecological education in primary and secondary schools.First of all,the urgency and necessity of enhancing junior students' eco-education in China are analyzed,with the introduction of theoretical basis for the junior students' eco-education,including educational theories,human development theories in Marxism and developmental ecology theories.The content of junior students' eco-education is explored from the human-nature relationship,the ecology and environment knowledge and the ecological values.Then,based on the data obtained from survey carried out among several middle and elementary school in south Jiangsu,the existing issues in the junior students' eco-education are systematically analyzed,with a further exploration of reasons behind these issues.It is pointed out the major explanations for the current eco-education issues include incomplete eco-education systems,unreasonable faculty structure,lack of eco-education experience and negative influence of test-oriented education.At last,the basic path of enhancing junior students' eco-education is suggested that the government shall offer policy support for eco-education,the school shall improve the environment for eco-education and the family shall create harmonious atmosphere for eco-education as well as that the state,schools and the society shall work together to enhance the eco-education.In this paper,theoretical support and instruction experience are both offered to improve the ecological civilization general quality of junior students in south Jiangsu or even across the nation and realize the overall development of junior students.
