English learning cannot do without reading,reading plays a leading role in the four basic skills in English and is an important part of English Teaching in Senior High School.English teaching syllabus treats the reading ability training as one of the most important goals in English teaching.However,in daily English reading teaching,there are many problems,such as the teachers' teaching.Teachers use the traditional way to teach reading,regard reading materials as the carrier of language knowledge,pay more attention to the translation of words and sentences,ignore the overall meaning of the article and don't cultivate the use of reading strategies.In class the teacher is the subject,teacher explains while students listen and take notes.Students become the passive recipients,teacher do not leave time for students to read and they lack of appropriate supervision mechanism,which lead to students' reading training is not enough.So they have less amount of reading.These will be stumbling blocks to develop students' interest in reading and to improve their reading ability.Then can we explore a better method of teaching instead of the traditional methods of reading teaching? In the middle of 1990 s,task-based approach was introduced into our country.The task-based teaching method organizes the teaching by task,stressed the process of completing the task.Participation,experience,interaction,communication,cooperative learning,which fully develop the learners' cognitive ability and arouse their existing language resources.Cognition,perception should use these resources in practice,truly "doing","school" to stimulate students' internal demands,reading experience,the formation of reading ability.Therefore,the author attempts to apply task-based approach to English reading class in senior high school and study it.From the middle of February to the middle of July in 2017,the author did an experiment on the students who are taught by her in Panzhou NO.12 High School of Guizhou.The experiment lasted for a semester.The aims are to test the hypothesises: 1.Compared the task-based language teaching model with the traditional teaching model,which model can improve students' Englishreading ability more effectively ? 2.Does task-based teaching model stimulate students' interest in English reading and develop their ability to use English reading strategies? The subjects were 128 students from Grade One.They were divided into experimental class and control class.The task-based reading method was used in the experimental class.The traditional teaching method(grammar translation method)was adopted in the control class.At the beginning of the experiment,students of two classes were tested to find out the reading proficiency.In order to find out the current situation of English reading,a questionnaire survey was conducted in the experimental class.At the end of the semester,compare the results after the two classes were tested,only to find that:experimental class results higher than the control class.Then the author conducted a questionnaire survey among the students in the experimental class.The survey answered the second question of the study.Finally the experimental result shows that the application of TBLT in English reading teaching improves students' English reading ability,changes students' reading attitude?learning interest and cultivates students' English reading strategies reading ability.
