"There Is Something In The Bun,there Is A Bun When There Is Something":a Dietary Anthropological Study Of Wenxi Huamo

Dietary anthropology regards diet as a comprehensive matter involving the history,environment,society and culture of a particular nation.It not only studies its processing,making and enjoyment,but also pays more attention to its related etiquette and rituals,beliefs and symbols,as well as the social and cultural functions and symbolic implications of a particular diet in its cultural group.Wenxi Huamo is a kind of traditional noodle food in Wenxi County,Yuncheng City,Shanxi Province.In the local social life,Wenxi Huamo is widely used in life etiquette as a kind of important etiquette and ritual material.It also applied to festivals and other social life.It not only bears long cultural memory,but also has special social and cultural value for the inheritance of excellent traditional culture,the maintenance of social relations and the expression of emotion.In 2008,Wenxi Huamo was selected as the second batch of national intangible cultural heritage list.In this paper,Wen Xi County as a field point,Wenxi Huamo as the research object,from the anthropological holistic theory of the subject perspective,the use of literature research and field investigation research method,The systematic explanation and analysis of Wenxi Huamo were carried out.The main content of this paper is composed of introduction,three chapters and conclusion.The first chapter introduced the natural and social cultural environment of Wenxi Huamo,traced the origin of the Wenxi Huamo,combed its development course,and described and analyzed the production and classification of the Wenxi Huamo based on the field investigation.The second chapter introduces the application of Wenxi Huamo in the ceremony of life,including the wedding ceremony,birth ceremony,birthday ceremony,funeral ceremony,and then introduces the use of Wenxi Huamo in traditional festivals,such as Spring Festival,Lantern Festival,Ching Ming Festival,Double-ninth Day,etc.Finally,the development of Wenxi Huamo under the market economy was introduced,including the protection,research and dissemination of Wenxi Huamo,and the production of Wenxi Huamo,and the use of Wenxi Huamo in other social life was also introduced.The third chapter first makes a deep excavation and interpretation of the cultural characteristics and symbolic meanings of Wenxi Huamo in the folk life.Secondly,the social and cultural functions of Wenxi Huamo are analyzed.It mainly includes six aspects: social communication function,cultural heritage function,cultural exhibition and cultural expression function,aesthetic function,culture and identity function and economic function.The conclusion part makes a logical summary of the research ideas and puts forward the main views of the author:First of all,as an important part of the local social life by the people of Wenxi Huamo,endowed with rich cultural connotation and symbolic meaning,reflects the values and aesthetic taste of the local people,the pursuit of spiritual and emotional world.Secondly,a holistic study of Wenxi Huamo can not only understand the formation and development process of Wenxi Huamo,the role of Wenxi Huamo in social life,the symbolic significance of Wenxi Huamo,as well as the social and cultural functions.Moreover,it can enhance the understanding of its social characteristics and cultural significance,at the same time,it can also provide some reference for the protection,inheritance and promotion of traditional culture.Third,Wenxi Huamo is a folk culture and folk art form which has profound historical and cultural connotation,and has passed through the development of thousands of years to date,indicating that it has the vitality of life and interest,and is the crystallization of folk wisdom and creativity.Under the background of the new era,Wenxi Huamo has changed on the basis of inheritance,making means,subject matter content and application scope.Wenxi Huamo has entered the city,entered the market,and moved towards a more diversified development road.
