The professional development of the faculty refers to the fact that under the internal environment such as education system,culture and social environment,as well as external environments such as school organization environment,through individual efforts and the organization support of the school,their ideological and moral knowledge,teaching ability and research ability are promoted and transformed from immature to mature.It can not only promote the individual development of the faculty,but also promote the development of colleges and universities.However,in the process of the faculty professional development,the lack of support from the school organization level is relatively serious,mainly reflected in the low level of salary and welfare provided by the school,the lack of autonomy in teacher education and teaching,and unfair implementation of the rules and regulations.The realization of professional development of the faculty depends not only on the teachers' own efforts,but also on the support of university organizations.The theory of organizational support undoubtedly provides powerful theoretical tools and new research perspectives for related research.The organizational support theory emphasizes not only on the contribution of the employees to the organization,but also pays attention to the support for the development of the employees.This coincides with the internal link between the organization of the university and the professional development of the faculty.What is the current state of the professional development of faculty? How do the faculty perceive the organize supportiveness relate to their professional development? What are the reasons for the lack of organizational support? How to improve the organizational support of the faculty and promote the professional development of the faculty? The answers to these questions constitute the research ideas of this article.The “Organizational Support” in this study refers to the support and help from theschool level for colleges and universities to provide faculty with professional development.Based on the existing research,this paper proposes that the main measurement indicators of organization support are material support,institutional support,and emotional support.It is intended to explore the status quo of organizational support in the professional development of the faculty through empirical methods.Based on an empirical survey of faculty in positions at the universities in Jiangsu Province,with the help of “Organizational Support Theory” in the field of sociology and psychology as the research tool,make the basic core concepts of “materials,systems,and emotions” as study clues,and achieve the conclusion that the reasons for the lack of organizational support in the faculty professional development are:inadequate material support,unreasonable institutional support,and inadequate emotional support.Finally,the following countermeasures can be used to improve the organizational support of the faculty professional development from the following three suggestions: firstly,material advancement to meet the needs of the faculty in various aspects;secondly,institutional guarantees,safeguarding the rights of the faculty in multiple fields;thirdly,Emotional guidance to promote multi-level cooperation among the faculty.
