UHF-band and S-band are commonly used in satellite communication, especially in a complex environment and working condition, the combination of the two frequency band has greater advantage. Most of the application condition for satellite communication limit the size of antenna, but nested antennas' feature makes it can be easily applied to this kind of environment. With the rapid development of the fourth generation mobile communication system, mobile terminal antennas need to be able to operate at multiband in a small size. In this paper, a small-size LTE terminal antenna which can cover multiple frequency bands used in 2G, 3G and LTE is proposed. The main contexts of this paper are divided into three parts:1. An antenna array works in S-band is designed, the array is composed of nine elements, using 3x3 arrangement. A magneto-electric dipole antenna is proposed as array element and realizes the miniaturization. The designing of the directional coupler and power splitters makes the array realize left-hand circular polarization. Measurement results show that at the work band, the gain of the antenna array is greater than 15 dB, and it has good circular polarization performance.2. An antenna array works in UHF-band with right-handed circular polarization is proposed, and the nested satellite communication antenna is completed combined with the S-band antenna array, maximum size of the antenna is only 790 mm. The radio control system is also designed in this part. Measured results show that the antenna has good circular polarization performance at UHF-band and S-band.3. A small-size internal multiband antenna is presented. By employing a feeding strip and meandered strip, two wide operating bands of 810~970MHz and 1710~2995MHz can be obtained, respectively. Good radiation characteristics for frequencies over the GSM850/900/DCS1800/PCS1900/UMTS/LTE2300/LTE2500 operating bands have been achieved.
