Today, high-tech medium-and small-sized enterprises are playing essential roles in the process of economic development, and they have been the backbone of scientific and technological innovation, as well as the core force of prompting marketization process in China. Hence, exuberant vitality and bright development prospects can be seen in the Chinese high-tech enterprises. As for high-tech enterprises, their growth rely on the research and exploration in new technologies and techniques; however, the technological innovation and improvement is achieved through the persistent endeavor of the personnel who have the solid professional knowledge base and the latest techniques on enterprise research and development, and they are the real bedrock of enterprise growth. As such, the key to the development of high-tech medium-and small-sized enterprises lies in the establishment of incentive mechanism for recruiting, cultivating and retaining the qualified employees.This article aims at demonstrating and exploring the successful incentive mechanism of the research and development (R&D) staff in A.M. Company Limited, a medium-sized high-tech enterprise. Through questionnaire survey, field survey and interview method, the article analyzes the contributors to the effective incentive mechanism of A.M. Company Limited which attracts, motivates and retains its R&D staff. On the basis of the national and international theories and status quo regarding incentive mechanism of R&D personnel, moreover, A.M. Company Limited has designed and formed a set of supporting measures to keep the qualified R&D staff, which embrace employee work analysis policy, performance appraisal policy, salary calculation and benefits payment policy, in-service training plan, as well as professional career management. Undoubtedly, the implementation of A.M. company's incentive mechanism is playing a significant part in enhancing both the enterprise cohesion and the satisfaction and engagement of the R&D employees, and as a result, it provides a positive and favorable technical support for the stable development of A.M. Company Limited. Furthermore, the research article is dedicated to improve the incentive mechanism of R&D personnel of other high-tech medium-and small-sized enterprises, serving them as an important reference.
