| With the rapid development of the construction industry, the extensive type of construction brought serious negative impact to the environment. Resource shortage and pollution is becoming an increasingly serious problem. So, how to effectively reduce energy consumption and protect the environment has become the concern of the whole society. Public works, as a place to live closely related to urban residents, is the carrier of public activities and leisure. At the same time, public works support the basic operation of urban life, and has an inseparable relationship with the city’s natural environment, economic development and social harmony. In recent years, With the acceleration of urbanization, people’s demand for living environment is also increasing. In order to meet the needs of urban residents in public environment, public works have become the key construction projects in our country. But, negative effects are emerging at the same time, for example, a sharp decline in resource reserves, environmental degradation, land shortage etc. The contradictions between environment protection and the living needs of residents are increasingly acute. Therefore, how to reduce the damage to the environment and improve sustainability is a far-reaching work.At present, the research on sustainable evaluation of construction projects at home and abroad, focusing on the construction technology, structural design, building materials and so on. But neglect the external effect of public works to the society. It is difficult to fully evaluate the sustainability of public works in the process of construction and operation. Based on the above problems. This paper uses the theory of sustainable development and the method of ecological footprint, combined with the theory of engineering population and community, establishing the evaluation method of public works’ sustainability. As a new analysis method, the ecological footprint method has been widely used in regional sustainable evaluation, but it is still in the embryonic stage in the construction field. In this paper, the ecological footprint of public works in the construction and operation stages can be divided into two parts, the inner part and the outer part. From the above two aspects, we calculate the ecological footprint and develop a reasonable sustainable evaluation criteria. In the first part of this paper, we summarize the relevant research-results of sustainable development and ecological footprint theory. Put forward the problems in the present research, and briefly explain the research contents and basic framework of this paper. The second part briefly introduces the related theories and basic concepts, and puts forward the connotation of sustainable development of public works. The third part create a sustainability evaluation model, respectively, from the internal and external aspects, and evaluate the sustainability in the construction and operation stages. In the fourth part, we combine theory with practice, Dalian Metro Line 2 construction project as an example, to test the sustainability evaluation model of public works, and then draw a conclusion. The third and fourth parts are the core content of this paper. According to the research conclusion, the fifth part puts forward suggestions for the sustainable development of public works in the future. The sixth part is the summary and expectation of this paper. This paper puts forward innovative ideas on the ecological footprint method applied to the sustainable evaluation of public works. First, modify the related analysis model and index system of ecological footprint, from the inside and outside aspects construct sustainable evaluation system of public works. Second, based on the ecology theory, and the interactions between population and community in public works, put forwards symbiotic effect, allelopathy effect and alternative effect. The interaction of the public works and the surrounding is also proposed in this paper. |
