The oil industry, as one of the important basic industry of the national economy,is closely related to our life resources. Since the reform and opening up, with China’s rapid economic development, the demand for energy is increasing. Oil, as an important part of energy, its share rose rapidly in primary energy consumption and production which is stable basically at a certain level now, and China has also been a major oil importer from an oil-exporting country. The oil industry has become the lifeblood of our economy.IT was applied into the oil industry early. Since the 1960 s, computer technology has been introduced to the field of the exploration and development as well as the production and refining to process data and control production. In the 1980 s, with the rapid development of computer technology, information process relying on it has popularized, which makes it a consensus for large oil companies to enhance the management level with informationization. Especially in 1990 s, the effect was even obvious with the improvement of information technology in depth and width.ERP, the abbreviation of Enterprise Resource Planning, extended from the management information system MRP II of manufacturing industry, is a comprehensive enterprise-oriented information management system of supply chain.In recent years, more and more enterprises began to focus on ERP system and apply it.This thesis introduced ERP system from its principle, concept and function briefly and analyzed the status of ERP implementation in typical large domestic oil companies. Then it summarized the main modules, success and problems. Next, with the entire process of ERP implementation in Jinxi Petrochemical Company as the main line, from the view of equipment management, the thesis made an overall design of the project and planned the modular architecture, made a detail design and modified the standard procedure, and described the process of project realization,including system configuration, procedure and testing. Finally, a summary was given about the great changes and improvement of efficiency in the equipment management after ERP system was implemented. Also the experiences and lessons were shared in it.By analyzing and studying, it is concluded that the successful implementation of ERP system met the needs of production and management of the company, realizedbusiness integration and data sharing, improved coordination operational capability and office efficiency. ERP has been through the business in the process of enterprise informatization and eliminating the "islands of information" of the core project is a vital part of the enterprise’s core competitiveness.
