Based on the geographical information system(GIS) platform and the econometric and statistical method, features of spatial distribution and mathematical statistics of the development potential, development intensities and resources carrying capacities are analyzed in the paper. Regions of great development potential and high development intensities generally are administration centers of counties and districts, and are mainly distributed in Jitai basin; however, regions with high resources carrying capacities are generally distributed in the western and eastern mountainous areas in Ji'an city.As for the functional zoning, national territory space in Ji'an city is divided into ecological construction zones, agricultural production zones and urban development zones by mainly using the synthetically index method and three-dimensional magic cube. The ecological construction zones are important water-source conservation areas and areas for developing forest and fruit products, and travel and leisure, and mountainous forest, ecological function areas of biodiversity, and major eco-conservation areas of the Ganjiang River basin and the Poyang Lake are distributed in these zones, which are the important ecological shelter zones in the city, in the province and even in our country. Moreover, the ecological construction zones mainly develop industries including ecotourism, Chinese traditional medicines, camellia oleifera, and featured forestry. The agricultural production zones is the crucial commodity grain bases, and is areas which guarantee the security of the supply of agricultural products in the city; therefore, featured agriculture and ecological agriculture are supposed to be developed so as to promote the agriculture modernization construction.
