The Research With Problems And Countermeasure On Inventory Cost Control Of RL Supermarket Chain

Cost is one of the main means to gain competitive advantages. At Present, because of the particularity of the retail industry, they are facing a huge inventory cost pressure, how to control inventory costs in the fierce market competition is the major problem that the supermarket chains must face.RL Supermarket is a large national supermarket chain in China, its business outles throughout China,although with a late starter, it has a certain momentum. However, there exist many problems in the inventory cost control systerm, if not resolved in a timely manner, this would reduce its dominant position in the retail industry.According to the related research results and the theory of controlment at home and abroad,this paper analyzed and summarized the elements of the supermarket chain inventory cost and its controlment, and further expounded the basic procedure and method of chain supermarket inventory cost controlment.and then this paper contrast RL's inventory cost and its components in recent years,further more, this paper contrast RL's inventory cost with the some excellent supermarket chains' inventory cost. Finally, it carried out the result that RL's inventory cost is somehow higher than other supermarket chain.based on RL's situation, this paper find out the factors affecting RL's controlment of inventory cost, these factors are expounded in four aspects which are procurement cost controlment, salary cost controlment, transportation cost controlment and warehousing cost controlment.based on this factors, this paper then analysis RL's current situation of procurement cost controlment, transportation cost controlment, warehouse cost controlment and salry cost controlment, and at the same time find out the problems of them and the reasons of them. Finally according to RL's current problems of inventory cost controlment, this paper gives some suggestion in the aspects of procurement cost controlment, transportation cost controlment, warehousing cost controlment and salary cost controlment, they are as following:in the aspect of procurement cost controlment, RL should optimize budget procedure, strengthen implementation management, improve inventory procurement processes according procurement budget, achieve mutual benefit and win-win with suppliers, hire occupation managers to eliminate corruption stage, strengthen training to enhance statt's awareness of procurement budget controlment. In the aspect of transportation cost controlment, RL should strengthen the construction of logistics information system, improve the logistics hardware facilities. In the aspect of warehousing cost controlment, RL should properly use VMI to manage the inventory, and renovate the storage facilities. In the aspect of salary cost controlment, RL should strengthen the controlment of inventory inspection and storage, strengthen the controlment of inventory counting and disposition, strengthen performance appraisal and incentive mechanism.
