With current organizations' external environment full of uncertainty and turbulence, the flexibility of organizational structure tends to be strengthened, which means the traditional career era is gradually moving on to the protean career era.In such context, the issue of employability has increasingly been concerned by the organizations, and become a hot research topic in human resource management and development in recent years. The employability of employees is not only beneficial to their personal career development, but can also help the organizations attain ideal performance. Therefore,it is of practical significance to explore the mechanism of employees' employability on their job performance. In addition,as the 80s and 90s has gradually become the main force in the labor market, this paper aims to focus on millennial generation employees.Based on Social Cognitive Career Theory,Conservation of Resources Theory and Career Self-efficacy Theory, this paper combines theoretical deduction and paired survey,of which the participants are millennial generation employees and their direct supervisors,to explore the psychological mechanism about how employability affect the three dimensions of job performance(i.e.,task performance, interpersonal facilitation and job dedication),or whether employability impact job performance through occupational self-efficacy.We adopt the SPSS19.0 and Mplus7.11 to conduct a statistical analysis using the data from 163 valid questionnaires, including descriptive statistical analysis, variance analysis of demographic variables, reliability and validity analysis of the scales, correlation analysis, regression analysis and the test of mediating effect.Based on the data analysis results, this paper mainly draws the following conclusions:Firstly, employees of different positions showed a significant difference in employability and task performance while those of different ages showed a significant difference in occupational self-efficacy.Also,work experience had a significant effect on job dedication.Secondly, the employability of millennial generation employees was positively related to their task performance, interpersonal facilitation and job dedication.Thirdly, the employability of millennial generation employees was significantly and positively associated with their occupational self-efficacy.Fourthly,the occupational self-efficacy of millennial generation employees positively affected their task performance, interpersonal facilitation and job dedication. Finally, occupational self-efficacy partially mediated the relationship between employability and contextual performance(i.e.,interpersonal facilitation and job dedication),but failed to mediate the effect of employability on task performance.Theoretically, the differential mediating effect of occupational self-efficacy between employability and task performance as well as contextual performance, has been basically validated, which enriches previous studies on employability and occupational self-efficacy to some extent.Practically, the suggestions from current findings can be referenced by organizations to work out specific measures to promote millennial generation employees' job performance.
