Home furnishing vendor T Company often received customer complaints, and is poor in performance evaluation. The main cause is that its business processes can't fulfill the requirements of its customers, meaning the necessity of redesigning its business process. A business improvement approach is developed based on the IDEF0 methodology with locating the problematic processes and supporting the decisions of redesigning those processes. According to the internal and external study for the business process optimization, this research uses IDEF0 method to analyzes the key process to develop business of T Company, considering its marketing and performance.. The problem in current business processes are identified, and then redesigned accordingly. The case of T Company is studied in detail, indicating that the existing problems lies in lack of comprehensive service for customers, unclear business processes with no predefined responsibility for some crucial tasks. After implementing the optimized processes, T Company has improved its logistics and financial performance, whereas the improvement of quality is not obvious due to the information delay from market. The results of this study can provide a useful example for home furnishing manufacturers to optimize their business process.
