Comparative Study On Japan-US Trade In Services Competitiveness

With the adjustment of world economy structure and the deepening of economic globalization, service industry takes an important position in one country's economic and trade activities. And service trade has become the important content of contemporary international competition. Having the competitive service industry and service trade or not has become the key for one country to be the winner in the international competition. Through continuously adjustment of the industrial structure, Japan's service trade shows a tendency of vigorous development. Especially entering the 21 st century, though Japan's service trade still lags behind trade in goods, but it has made considerable achievements. The development of service industry of the America is the dominant force in the upgrading of industrial structure. The development of service trade in the United States, which is based on the development of service industry, is an important part of its international trade. The service trade of the United States has been the top of the world basically. The service trade of the America not only has large amount, but also has rapid growth. Its import and export growth trend is very strong. In recent years, service trade of Japan and the United States has goof development. The comparison of services trade competitiveness between America and Japan has important practical significance.In this paper, the main research contents are followings: Firstly, Comb the existing literature on service trade competitiveness and expound the different views of scholars about service trade competitiveness, the influence factors of services trade competitiveness, the research status of service trade competitiveness in Japan and America, the scholars' view about the service trade competitiveness in Japan and America. Secondly, the paper analyses and compares the current situation of the development of trade in services development of Japan and America and finds out the present situation and character of trade in services of Japan and America. The paper also finds out similarities and differences of scale and structure in services of Japan and America. On the basis of the theory of comparative advantage and competitive advantage, the paper analyzes the whole trade in services and various industries of Japan and America, finds out the differences in service trade competitiveness between Japan and America and the conclusion of competitiveness of service trade between Japan and America. Thirdly, the paper analyzes the reason for the difference in services trade between Japan and America and finds out the real reason for the difference in services trade between Japan and America. Then according to its development experience, the paper puts forward the thinking for improving the international competitiveness of Chinese service trade. Through the reference of development experience of services trade of Japan and America, the paper puts forward some suggestions, including raising the level of domestic service industry development, strengthening the cultivation of human capital, promoting technological progress and innovation, speeding up adjustment and optimization of the service industry structure, playing the role of the government and so on.
