Product development process is the core process of D company, with the increasingly fierce market competition, the competitiveness of D company's traditional consumer power products is in declining, it is imperative to transform and upgrade the product. Medical power products received little attention before. The production of single project is small, the degree of standardization is low, the product development cycle is long. But medical power products face less competition because of its high price, high profit, high technology and high quality requirements. D company decide to develop medical power products. Focus on different product development aspects, it is necessary to improve the process of product development. Medical power products and consumer power products are very similar, therefore, process improvement based on the original product development process, according to different characteristics. And from the domestic and abroad business process reengineering practice, process improvement cause less shock than process reengineering, and easier to get results.Take the medical product development process of D company as the research object, this paper introduced D company and its current product development process at first. Analysis the existing problems of the product development process in project evaluation, product design and design verification. Combined with the theory of Project Management, the theory of Stage-Gate management in new product development process, make efforts to find solutions to improve the product development process of D company. (1) Add marketing analysis process, define product development targets, guiding the direction of product development. (2) Refine the process of product design, add product design review process, so as to do timely assessment and decision-making, reduce unnecessary rework and duplication of work, ensure the quality of design. (3) Product pilot run and design verification process in parallel, which also require timely communication and information sharing, shorten the development cycle. (4) Add profit and loss risk management process in the whole process, to ensure that products meet the requirements of laws and regulations, the risk to patients can be reduced to a controlled range. In order to ensure the effective implementation of the product development process, the necessary measures to ensure the implementation of the process was provided. Including management support, the company organization structure adjustment, strengthen staff training. Finally, taking the X project of D company as an example, the process is explained in detail.Combining with the research and improvement of D company medical product development process, this paper not only has important practical significance to D company, but also play a role of inspiration and reference to the product development process improvement of similar enterprises.
