The Research On Regional Economic Strength Of Six Coastal Provinces

With the economic development of our country,we attach more and more attention on economic strength and influence.Guangdong,Fujian,Zhejiang,Jiangsu,Shandong and Liaoning are six economically developed provinces in eastern China along the coast.With unique location and abundant resources,they take the lead in development and obtain extremely powerful economic strength.These provinces try their best to optimize the economic structure,improve economic efficiency and adjust economic strategies to promote the economy.We find that their economic power has been growing and the differences between them have been changing.This paper provides quantitative analysis and comparison of the economic power of six provinces.Based on many existing literature and relevant theories,we define the concept of regional economic strength and clarify its scientific connotation.Then,with consideration of four aspects of regional economic power,we choose 4 secondary index and 16 three-level index to construct a comprehensive evaluation index system of regional economic strength.Using factor analysis method with data of national economic census and the 2008-2013 statistical yearbook six provinces,we make a longitudinal and transverse comparison of their economic power to know their current situation and difference.The research results show that a noticeable economic gap still existed between them,but the gap became smaller.To some extent,the regional industrial structure was unspecialized and assimilated.Moreover,their comprehensive economic strength is improved.Guangdong province ranks first,and Jiangsu is following.Zhejiang jumped to third place.
