With the deepening of the global knowledge-based economic development,the world’s manufacturing industry is gradually showing the common trend of servicing development.Service as a new strategic value,not only is an important means for enterprises to improve their competitiveness and make a profit,but also is the main power source of realizing the upgrading of the manufacturing industrial structure and achieving sustainable development of the economic cycle.However,when the manufacturing enterprises are transforming and upgrading to servitization,they always have to face the problems how to choose the right kind of transition ways,the degree of transformation and transformation process.From the relevant literatures at home and abroad,the research about the realizing paths of manufacturing industry servitization is still rare.This paper adopts theoretical analyzing and case study methods,bases on the Industrial Value Chain Theory,points out that the profit distribution of the industry value chain can be showed by the "Smiling Curve",the manufacturing enterprises can extend to the two ends of “Smiling Curve” for servitization,thus promoting corporate restructuring and upgrading.Considering that different manufacturing enterprises have different situations,their methods and paths for servitization are also quite different.This paper focus on the extension of enterprise value chain during the process for servitization,summarizes four different paths for manufacturing enterprises to realize servitization along the “Smiling Curve”,and illustrates them with four concrete cases,then draws the conclusion that when to choose the paths of servitizaton,the manufacturing enterprises should abide by the principles of suitability,pertinence and systematization.Then after analyzing the current situation and problems of China’s manufacturing industry servitization,this paper points out that our manufacturing enterprises are still at the bottom of the industry value chain,and the level of servtization is also very low.They can start with marketing service,and then transit to service-oriented manufacturing enterprises which have competitive advantages over brands,channels,transportation and customer management.After changing the current situation,they can transit to innovation-oriented enterprises.And step by step,when the manufacturing enterprises have a good control of the value chain,they can go to a even higher stage.To most of China’s manufacturing enterprises,this path will be more operational and realistic.
