Manganese resources are abundant in China, and it is widely distributed but not balanced. Manganese resources have been found in 23 provinces, towns and municipalities, and it concentrated in central south and southwest regions. It is Guangxi that has the richest manganese resources in China, which reserves of 281 million tons.The reserves of manganese ore is 120 million tons in Daxin,Guangxi province, and manganese carbonate ore is the main manganese types. Most of the ores are low grade, furthermore, substantial amounts of manganese minerals and gangue distribute as fine granular, and they disseminate together closely. Therefore these ores belong to low grade and refractory manganese carbonate ores. Because of lack of new efficient technology, the ones haven't been exploited and utilized effectively. Therefore, the fine grained and low grade manganese carbonate in Daxin has been researched in this essay. The research mainly focuses on mineralogical characteristics, ore benefic ability and the flotation behavior of rhodochrosite, which provide theoretical basis and technological support for this kind of ores.Mineralogical characteristics showed that the ores have a wide range of mineral, while minerals are very fine, and the gangue is closely coexisting with manganese. A large number of magnetite existed in ores, and they are closely coexisting with braunite, quartz and chlorite.The ore is difficultly beneficiated, and the key factor is that gangue is closely coexisting with manganese, which cause the Monomer dissociation degree is low.The comprehensive performance of gravity concentration, magnetic concentration, flotation and combined technology showed that:'magnetic-reserve flotation combined technology' is the most efficient technology for these ores. In the case of same raw ore, small trials of gravity concentration obtained the performance of grade 24.14% and recovery 14.14%; small trials of magnetic concentration obtained the performance of grade 18.18?19.18% and recovery 83.86-84.92%; small trials of direct flotation obtained the performance of grade 18.20% and recovery 56.22%,while the reserve flotation is grade 17.03% and recovery 80.70%. 'magnetic-direct flotation combined technology' obtained the performance of grade 18.73% and recovery 13.48%, while the 'magnetic-reserve flotation combined technology' is grade 21.22% and recovery 77.64%;The flotation behavior of rhodochrosite, quartz and calcite showed:(1) Tannin has a great inhibition on rhodochrosite in flotation of oleic acid system, as well as starch on quartz, Tannin on calcite.(2) Starch and dextrin have great inhibition on rhodochrosite, while CMC has great activation on rhodochrosite; SHMP can restrain quartz obviously, but SHMP and CMC can activate calcite greatly.The blending ores' flotation behavior of rhodochrosite,quartz and calcite showed: (1)Alums and sodium silicate has greatest inhibition on gangue when the blending ores are consisted of rhodochrosite and quartz in flotation of oleic acid system, which can realize the separation of minerals and gangue; the tailings' grade is higher than concentrates', and the recovery is low when the blending ores are consisted of rhodochrosite and calcite, which results to the difficulty of separation; While the blending ores are consisted of rhodochrosite, quartz and calcite, all the recovery of manganese are low, the best performance can obtained when the inhibitor is SHMP. (2)Alums, starch and dextrin have a great inhibition on rhodochrosite when the blending ores are consisted of rhodochrosite and quartz in flotation of octadecylamine system, while the SHMP has a great activation; the grade of concentration is low when the blending ores are consisted of rhodochrosite and calcite; While the blending ores are consisted of rhodochrosite, quartz and calcite, starch, alums and dextrin have a great inhibition on rhodochrosite, SHMP and Tanning have an activation. Generally speaking, in spite of the presence of quartz and calcite, the flotation of rhodochrosite can be realized when taking the octadecylamine as collector and starch, alums or dextrin as inhibitor.Overall, in spite of the grade of raw ore is 14.62%, the low grade and refractory manganese carbonate ores in Daxin, Guangxi province obtained a perfect performance of grade 21.22%, recovery 77.64% when taking new technology 'magnetic for discarding the tailings, reserve flotation for discarding silicon and sulfide'.
