Gemini surfactants are a new type of surfactants which have higher surface activity and other excellent performance than common surfactants. Because Gemini surfactants play a very important role in oil production industry, exploring novel surfactants with high surface activity which can be used in oilfield production is an important thesis to research workers.In this paper, Using ethylenediamine, alkyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether, epoxy chloropropane and sulfoxide chloride as the main raw material, a novel Gemini surfactant (DSEO) was synthesized drawing support from four-step synthesis of experiments chlorination and alkylated reaction. The synthesis conditions and some basic properties were studied in this paper, such as: the surface activity, the synergistic effect, the emulsion, the wettability and the interfacial tension. The main experiment results are listed as follows:1. A novel Gemini surfactant DSEO was synthesized by using ethylenediamine, epoxy chloropropane, alkyl phenol polyoxyethylene ether and sulfoxide chloride as the main raw material in this paper. The synthesis conditions of intermediate products and target product DSEO were optimized by using single-factor and orthogonal method.2. Utilize IR and 1H NMR to make characterization for intermediate products and target product, the results show that structure of target resultant consistent with which of design basically.3. Evaluating the surface activity of Gemini surfactant. The critical micelle concentration (cmc) value is 1.98×10-4 mol/L, and the ?cmc value is 31.7 mN/m. The surface activity of Gemini surfactant is much better than traditional surfactants.4. Evaluating the effect of temperature on the surface activity of Gemini surfactant. The results show that the cmc value of DSEO increase with increasing temperature, but the ?cmc value decrease.5. Discussing the effect of different inorganic salt such as NaCl?CaCl2?AlCl3 on DSEO surface activity. The results show that the cmc and ?cmc value of DSEO can become much lower to join the inorganic salts. The degree of reduction is related to the cationic charge number, the more charge of electrolyte the better impact on surface activity. AICl3 can reduce the cmc value and ?cmc value of DSEO to 0.79×10-4mol/L and 28.6 mN/m, respectively.6. Investigating the synergistic effect between Gemini surfactant and common surfactants DTAB and AEO9. The results show that the cmc and ?cmc value declined when DSEO cooperate with DTAB and AEO9. The best ratio of DSEO blend with DTAB is 3:7, the cmc value and ?emc value is 0.81×10-4 mol/L and 28.6 mN/m, respectively. The best ratio of DSEO blend with AEO9 is 3:7, the cmc value and ?cmc value is 0.73×10-4mol/L and 29.3mN/m, respectively.7. Evaluating the emulsion property of DSEO with different oils. It has much better emulsion property than common surfactants.8. Discussing the wettability property of DSEO to change the wet angle of water surface and oil surface.9. The interfacial tension between DSEO and oil were tested, the effect of concentration, temperature and salinity on the oil-water interfacial tension was investigated in this paper, and it shows good heat resistance and salt resistance properties. The synergistic effect of DSEO and anionic surfactant SA mixed system, DSEO and nonionic surfactant NB 1214 mixed system were investigated, and the interfacial tension declined to 10-3 mN/m and 10-2 rnN/m, respectively.
