Different fiber and nano-particles affect the epoxy-based composites friction-wear and thermodynamic properties differently.In this paper,carbon fiber,aramid fiber,bamboo fiber and kenaf fiber were used as the fiber-reinforced materials,nano-silica,nano-graphite and carbon nanotubes(CNTs)were chosen as nano-particles filler materials.The fiber/epoxy resin and nano-particles/epoxy resin composites were prepared respectively.The effect of different fiber and nano-particles content on the epoxy resin-based composite friction-wear properties was studied.The effect of different nano-particles content on the epoxy resin-based composite flexural properties and glass transition temperature were also investigated.The two kinds of fibers(carbon fiber,bamboo fiber)and two kinds of nanoparticles(nano-silica and CNTs)were chosen to prepare the nano-particles-fiber/epoxy resin composites.The friction-wear properties of the composites were tested under different test conditions.The synergistic effect of the fibers and nano-particles on improving the epoxy resin composites friction-wear properties was discussed and the mechanism was analyzed.With the increase of carbon fiber content,the volume wear of epoxy resin decreased 10.5%,63.4%and 68.0%,respectively.The wear of carbon fiber/epoxy resin composites was mainly carbon matrix and carbon fiber break off.After adding bamboo fiber,the volume wear value of epoxy resin increased first and then decreased.The volume wear values of epoxy resin after adding 2wt%and 3wt%bamboo fibrils were 7.06 and 6.59 respectively,which were 12.4%and 18.2%lower than those of pure epoxy resin respectively.The wear resistance of the composites was enhanced.The flexural strength and modulus of the composites increased slightly with the increase of nano-SiO2 content,and the maximum increase was about 4%.After adding CNTs,the bending strength and flexural modulus of the composites increase greatly,with the maximum increase of 15%and 76%,respectively,and the toughening effect was enhanced obvious.The glass transition temperature(Tg)of the nanocomposites decreased linearly with the increase of the nanoparticles content.Both the influence of nano-particles on the composite Tg and the influence of the nano-particles on the volume wear of the composite showed a certain inverse correlation.For the epoxy resin glass transition temperature(Tg)improvement,the nano-SiO2 showed good synergistic effect with the bamboo fiber.The Tg of the material reached 124?,which was 11? higher than that of pure epoxy resin.For the epoxy resin friction-wear properties improvement,nano-SiO2 and bamboo fiber also showed a good synergistic effect,especially in the high-speed heavy-load conditions,the improvement was better than that of the carbon fiber on the epoxy resin.
