3D woven fabric is an important reinforcing structure of composite materials.With the rapid development of composite materials in many fields,the research of 3D woven fabric becomes a hot research topic.Because of the existence of the third dimensional yarn,the connection between the fabric layer and layer of the 3D woven fabric is improved significantly.At the same time,the impact resistance and shear resistance of the final products are improved.On the basis of 3D woven structure,through the structure innovation and breakthrough of the fabric thickness,to realize the optimization of the 3D woven fabric structure and performance so that it can play a greater role in the practical application which will be a hot research content for a long time in the future.This paper designed a new type of 3D woven fabric with characteristics of high thickness,high density and multiple layers--double weft lock 3D woven fabric including single warp double weft lock 3D woven fabric and double warp double weft lock 3D woven fabric.Ultra high molecular weight polyethylene fibers were used as yarn raw materials for 3D woven fabric which is completed in the heavy industry gripper loom.The thickness of double weft lock 3D woven fabric was up to 8mm.Multilayer warp and weft weaving can be completed at the same time,which provides possibility for the quantitative producing.Finally,double weft lock 3D woven fabric and epoxy resin composite were used to prepare double weft lock 3D woven fabric composites.In this paper,Ballistic performance of double weft lock 3D woven fabric and its composites were studied by ballistic impact test.Firstly,the ballistic performance of single warp double weft lock 3D woven fabric and its composites,double warp double weft lock 3D woven fabric and its composites were discussed under the different incident velocities.In comparison,the ballistic performance of double warp double weft lock 3D woven fabric and its composites are better at low projectile speed.The double warp double weft lock 3D woven fabric and its composites were used as the optimization structure for ballistic test.The results show that when the bullet incident velocity is 217.5 m/s,the dent depth of the backing mortar is 12.3 mm.The ballistic performance of the optimized structure has a certain anti back convex ability which is reliable and stable.The stab resistance of double weft lock 3D woven fabric and its composites were studied by static puncture test and dynamic puncture test.Static puncture test results show that the stab resistance of single warp double weft lock 3D woven fabric and its composites is better.Dynamic puncture test results show that the length of tool penetration is less than 7 mm,which has certain stab proof performance;The back of the double weft lock 3D woven fabric composites only leaves tiny holes when the puncture direction is the weft of the composites.In this paper,the structure design and weaving of 3D woven fabric with characteristics of high thickness,high density and multiple layers are completed.Double weft lock 3D woven fabric which can be for the quantitative producing has the advantages of light weight and good flexibility.This paper has important theoretical guidance and practical significance for the study of soft bulletproof stab resistant materials and has high use value and broad application prospect in modern industry.
