In recent years, work focus of high level radioactive waste(HLW) disposal sitting in China has shifted to Beishan area, in Gansu province. As crucial evaluating factors in pre-selection, geological condition and hydrogeological condition need to be strictly investigated. Due to geological efforts made by production and research organization in Beishan in the past several years, huge mass of data concerning geology, geophysical, geochemistry, hydrological and remote sensing have been accumulated. However in the process of data collection, still wildly exist some defects such as low automation, low timeliness and low complex data utilization. Now Chinese HLW disposal research work is stepping into URL stage, many sensors will be deployed, lots of data will be erupt in short time. This brings new demands for data collection, transmission and management technology. Also, a solution for current defects is a basement for the future.WSN(Wireless Sensor Network)has been wildly applied in many fields including HLW-disposal area in European countries. In this paper, we discuss how to apply WSN into HLW-disposal study in Chinese Beishan district. Begin with making a full literature investigation, with the support of WSN, GIS and Database technology, we try to find a reliable WSN application solution in Beishan district. Achieve the goal of HLW disposal data precisely collect, high-efficiently transmit and local application. The main contents of the paper can be summarized as follows:(1) Design Beishan WSN application solution. We divide HLW-WSN into 5 layers: sensor layer, data connect layer, data storage layer, service layer and application layer. Due to build sensor sub-network, local monitor station, bone-network, site data center to realize the five layers of HLW-WSN. Finally achieve automatic data collection, transmit and application.(2) Based on data compression technology, this paper lunched data aggregation experiments of Beishan WSN. We tested apply LTC(Lightweight Temporal Compression) data compression algorithm to HLW disposal research data compression. The experiment result show that LTC algorithm works well on both authentic data and simulated data.(3) This paper discussed dynamic data management technique of WSN, Put forward a Beishan WSN database development principle: Use sensor database to manage sensor and network equipment data, PostgreSQL to manage current monitor data, and use Hadoop to manage archived data. Based on this principle we developed a data storage system framework, completed WSN dynamic database design, finally realized the Table, Field and View construction in PostgreSQL.(4) Based on Socket, we developed a WSN data simulation tool which simulates data synchronization and exchange among the basestation, sensor and database. This tool also product simulation data with real data feature. These data used as a data source of compression and application experiment. By this tool, we tested and verified the WSN design and data management method, completed the database design.Due to the studies above, this paper raised a WSN application design for Beishan district and a workable implement solution. By these studies, we made a foresight for data aggregation, management tectonic, optimized the WSN application design from several aspects. Theses effort made a solid theory and practice foundation for the real WSN application in Beishan district in the future.
