With the increasing improvement of the economy and the gathered pace of evolutionary process of urbanization, urban population is increasing year by year, leading to a great demand for residential area, thereby giving impetus to the development of residential green space. But the reasonable design of the residential green space slightly lags with respect to the booming real estate industry. Residential green space is one of the main places for urban activities, not only closely linking up residents' life, but also affecting the urban environment. A good residential green space design can improve people's happiness and comfort. This article explored the residential green space design based on human behavioral and psychological elements, with deep research on people's behavior and psychology and comprehensive guidance of residential green space design theory. Firstly, the related research situation at home and abroad was introduced in this paper. After a series of theoretical research, observation, investigation, and data analysis, the following contents were applied to residential design method:Experiential psychology and its behavior, cognitive psychology and its behavior, behavioural psychology and its behavior and the psychological and behavioral characteristics of different groups of people, barrier-free design of green space. It was analyzed the psychological behavior mode, behavior characteristics and usage requirements of the form of residential green space of different populations in residential green space. Finally, the appropriate organizational structure of green space design was summed up. Furthermore, green space planning and design method was also summarized to meet behavioral and psychological needs of different groups of people in the residential areas according to the classification in the form of green residential areas. There are numerous recommendations for public participation in the green space design, behavior monitoring after use of green space, and finding design issues to improve the design. It is the purpose of this paper to combine psychology and behavioral science and residential landscape design, to enrich design language, and to enhance the design concept.
