“The Building On the Water” of the Shihlien Chemical plant is designed byálvaro Siza and is located in Hongze County,Huai’an City,Jiangsu Province.This paper in the way of critical regionalism to analyzes the times environment and growth process of Siza,and explores the architectural ideas and creative techniques of Siza.This paper studies research the cultural context and the source of the construction of "The Building On the Water" in three datum marks that were "archetypal","geographical" and "space",and explores the spatial temperament and the regional spiritual connotation of“The Building On the Water”,So as to form a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the creative practice of Siza’s architecture,with a more intuitive perceptual human perspective and the narrative style of the paper to express the unique cognition of Siza’s architectural concept and architectural works.
