A large mount of soft ground with high water content, high compressibility and low intensity distributes extensively in the coastland of our country. The soft ground need to be improved bearing capacity in order to satisfy the engineering demand if the building constructed on it. There are many methods about soft ground treatment such as the conventional clearing silt method, the method of pile foundation, dynamic compaction method, prestressing consolidation by drainage method and blasting and so on. Based on soft ground treatment mechanism, the blasting can be divided into blasting tamping, toe-shooting method, under-stone toe-shooting method and so on, each has virtue and applicability.The paper bases on plenty of data about soft ground treatment theory research and engineering application in the world and the project of the land formation on the airport in Shen-zhen city. Through lots of normal indoor experiments, the project characters of soft ground were studied and the basic physical mechanics index were gained, which can provide basic data for the project that toe-shooting method successfully used in the soft ground of airport embankment. According to the project, the toe-shooting method was improved and blasting parameters were optimized. It is that the multiple-row toe-shooting method and the minimum burden principle were neatly used in the project, and the toe-shooting method mechanism is extended. The result of field tests indicates that the effect achieved the demand of design. It also indicates that the toe-shooting method is an economic and valid soft ground treatment method.
