Soft ground has engineering properties such as low bearing capacity, big settlement and long time consolidation, which makes structures excessive settlement and differential settlement during operation. The excessive settlement and differential settlement of embankment seriously affect normal use of the road, and even endangers security of driving. So it has important practical engineering significance to investigate deeply the regularity of foundation settlement, simulate consolidation process of the soft ground with reasonable parameters and model, and forecast settlement.Combining with the improvement of the soft ground in infrastructure construction project of the Mazu City, this paper analyze the settlement of the soft ground with nonlinear FEM software ABAQUS. The issues conducted in this paper are generalized as follows:1. This paper firstly introduces the general situation of the engineering and construction monitoring program. Based on a large number of monitoring data, comprehensive analysis of soft ground settlement and the dissipation rule of pore water pressure are made. Settlement is predicted by the three point method and the hyperbolic method. Finally, the measured data, the projection results and the calculation results are analyzed and compared.2. Using finite element software ABAQUS, extended linear Drucker-Prager model is introduced to establish calculation model based on Biot consolidation theory. The results of this calculation model and measured data are analyzed and compared in the paper.3. Combined with the engineering practice, by taking the geological survey reports as the data source, this paper analyzes the selecting and principle on main parameters, and the model reduction method is introduced. The research may be a good example for the similar model.4. Effect factors on ground surface settlement and pore water pressure of soft ground, such as the constitutive model parameters, the permeability coefficient, plastic drainage plate and the well resistance, are studied. The elements of constitutive model parameters are(in the turn of influencing degree):poisson’s ratio μ, formation modulus E, inflation Angle ψ, friction Angle β, materials coefficient K, initial porosity eo and uniaxial compression yield stress σc.
