| In the later18th. century the society had a huge change. The economical position of the bourgeoisie was strengthened, but they still had a low political position and were still oppressed by the nobility. With the development of the enlightenment the individual awareness of the bourgeoisie ist stronger and stronger, therefore they emphasized more the protection of their privacy. However the protection could not come true because of their low political position, so they were unsatisfieder with the oppression of the nobility. In Kant’s opinion the only way, in that the problem would be solved, was the participation of the bourgeoisie in public field. In that case the bourgeois public field came out. In the beginning it appeared as public field of literature. Since they had a low politic position, they decideed to fight for their rights in a moral way. It means that they carried criticism out through the literature. The Worry of young Werther is the typical literature of the bourgeois public field. This novel gives expresssion to the bourgeois public field from three respects. First of all, it brings the privacy in to the public field, for example the novel is composed of letters, which is suitable to express emotion. Secondly, the novel reflects the typical thought of bourgeois public field-rationalization of politics. Thirdly, Werther’s strong individual awareness is also an Argument. Because of the spread of the novel more and more people participated in public field, which promote the development of the bourgeois public field. |
