Since reform and opening-up, China has entered a period of economical and cultural exchange. Chinese pop music songs, on the basis of their own development, had communicated with the foreign pop music more deeply and frequently. Chinese pop music songs has gradually developed a unique genre in terms of the structure of musical form, lyric and singing features,and has become the artistic style of current pop music. Chinese pop music song has moved to an unprecedented stage in respects of both ideological connotation and artistry.Chapter one looks back on the history of western pop music, and reflects upon the starting stage of Chinese pop music. It also gives an account of the development of Chinese pop music in the early stage and analyzes on the impact from its foreign counterpart. Chinese pop music earned rapid growth through learning and mixing with western pop music. Chapter two demonstrates how the development of economy influences the music style and thus the growth of pop music follows a certain set of rules. The rock and metal elements as well as the technology of recording and internet are important ingredients of the plentiful of Chinese pop music, which accelerates the quality and quantity of pop songs. Chapter three explained the structure and lyrics characteristics of pop songs with analysis of several specific work. It summarized the types of structures of pop songs after the reform and opening up of China and reflects on the development of the singing styles. Chapter four described the features of current pop songs and their popularization and diversification. Going through the history of pop music, it gives a summary of the art form of pop songs and indicates the internal rules.Pop music song, as one of the common form of musical expression, attracts widely attention among the masses. As a prominent carrier of culture, it shoulders heavy responsibilities on the national quality-oriented education and has a certain social influence. It is vital for us to look back on the long course of history of its spouting period, stagnancy period, developing period in Tai Wan and Hong Kong area and also the gradually recovering period. We aim to find the law of its development and predict its future development trend through focusing on the exploration of rapidly developed pop music after 1978. We expect this paper, which focuses on the study of the pop musical creation course can lead up to more dynamic research activities in Chinese pop music.
