At the end of twentieth Century,some scholars started to review and reassess the Narrow-mindedness of Western Centralization.The east scholars also begin to research on the issue of "oriental influence" in art history,and had played a key role in some important subjects.Hidemichi Tanaka is one of them.In this paper,author elaborated the book entitled Ex oriente lux The influence of the Far-East on Western Art by H.Tanaka.There are there parts in this book.The first part is entitled Pax Tatarica and the Italian Art of fourteenth century.The second part is dedicated to the study of oriental influence in sixteenth and seventeenth century Europe.The third part is dedicated to the study of relationship between "japonisme"and the French impressionists of the later nineteenth century.It shows us a new perspective to study western art history which is suggested "Looking East".Besides,H.Tanaka shifted his focus from western art history to Japanese art history throughout his research history that just like a journey to chase the light from Orient.
