Analysis Of The Use And Comparison Of Classical Music And Popular Music And Sound Techniques

As a very important aspect of music composition,harmony plays a compelling role in developing the melody,deepening and enriching the expressiveness of musical work.There is firstly a survey of the development of harmony art since the classical period to modern pop music.As for several harmony techniques within classical music and modern pop music,some music works have been cited for illustration.Based on basic harmony rules,an analysis of these musical works has been made in order to do a comparative study of several harmony techniques between classical music and modern pop music.There is a comparative study and analysis of temporary and long-term modulation,and the circle of fifths between classical period music and modern pop music;a comparative study and analysis of extended chords and non-diatonic chords between romantic period music and modern pop music;a comparative study of chord parallelism in impressionistic music and passing chords in modern pop music;a comparative study of quartal harmony in Chinese musical work and suspended chords in modern pop music.It is hoped that these illustrations and harmony analyses can briefly explain the similarities and differences between classical and modern pop music harmony techniques.It is also hoped that this article can contribute to the theoretical description of modern pop music,and help to learn classical music harmony and modern pop music harmony better.
