Five-year college refers to the junior high school after graduation to read 3 years of technical secondary school with 2 years of college.There have been 1200 independently established higher vocational colleges in china by 2008.The amount of higher vocational accounted for about 70% of the total of all the higher education schools.The number of the higher vocational students had more than 13 million and accounted for about half of the total of the national college students. Relative to undergraduate, It had not enough studies to research psychological characteristics and the mental health education of five-year college students.This study is divided into the following two sections.The first section:In order to investigate the characteristics of five-year college students'sense of hope, a questionnaire survey was conducted in the present study. the questionnaire survey was conducted to examine the characteristics of five-year college students'sense of hope. Altogether 526 five-year college students and 300 undergraduates from Nanjing Engineering Vocational College,Nanjing Institute of Technology and Jiangsu Second Normal University completed a questionnaire:Adult Dispositional Hope Scale, and 400 valid questionnaires of five-year college students and 236 valid questionnaires of undergraduates were collected. The second section:To further complement and deepen the results of the questionnaire research and reveal the impact factors of the sense of hope, the second part of the present study interviewed 4 five-year college students by convenience sampling and snowball sampling method, and made a deep interpretation of their interview materials through grounded theory and category analysis. Each interview for a second time, it spent about 1 hour for each interview, it was transcribed text of more than 60000 words. Interview research verified the results of quantitative research and second explored the impact factors of sense of hope.Here are the conclusions we can draw from the present study:(1)The characteristics of five-year college students'sense of hope:The level of five-year college students'sense of hope was in a high level.But five-year college students and undergraduates had no significant difference.And it shows a strong motivation for undergraduates, but implementation capability is relatively weak; Student cadre'sense of hope was significantly higher than not student cadre; Five-year college student's sense of hope emerged after the former high-low trend, First-year college students was significantly higher than other grades.(2)the main impact factors of five-year college students' sense of hope are grade, student cadre or not, personal effort degree, parents' support, interpersonal relationship and professional prospects.
