The attentional network model is presented based on the cognitive neuropsychology, divided into alerting, orienting, executive attention.Self-control refers that the individuals can understand their own psychology and behavior and can act purposefully.Self-control is affected by many influences and many researchers believe that the attention has more influences.Based on the theory of the attentional network model, this study selected 60 students in Grade 4 and Grade 5 in Dalian to explore students' characteristics of attention and self-control who are in Grade 4 and Grade 5 and the influences of attentional networks on the self-control through the Attention Network Test(ANT)and the stop signal task. The results of this study are as follows:(1)In the study of students' attentional network characteristics who are in Grade 4 and Grade 5,the fifth grade students have shorter reaction time and higher accuracy compared to the fourth grade students both in the objective conditions and in the condition of clues which means that the fifth grade students' attentional network level is higher than the fourth grade students'.(2)In three kinds of attentional network effects, there is no difference in the alerting and orienting effects, but there is significant difference in executive effect. On the executive effect, students in Grade 5 are lower than students in Grade 4 which shows that students in Grade 5 have higher executive attention.(3)In the alerting and executive attention effects, there is no gender difference. But in the orienting effect, there is significant gender difference and boys have more scores than girls which means girls in this period have higher ability in choosing information.(4)In the influences of attentional networks on the self-control,executive control effect scores are negatively correlated with overall inhibition rate and are positively correlated with stop signal reaction time.Executive control effect represents the attentional network function. It positively predicts stop signal reaction time which means that attentional networks have influences on self-control during Grade 4 and Grade 5,that is,to predict the self-control level through students' attentional network levels.
