Liu Kai And His Ancient Studies

Liu Kai is the first ancient prose writer who unequivocally advocated ancient prose and opposite to the social accidentally couple writing styles in late Tang Dynasty and Five dynasties.As the ancient prose movement pioneer in Northern Song dynasty,he had played an important role in the process of the formation and development of ancient prose.Based on Liu Kai 's prose text,this thesis chooses Liu Kai 's ancient thoughts and ancient prose as the main research object,and have a research on these following aspects:The introduction part is mainly overall overview of current research situation of Liu Kai for nearly three decades at home and abroad,and the emphasis of the researches were briefly analyzed.Main part is divided into four chapters:The first chapter introduces the formation of Liu Kai 's restore ancient way and the background of creation of ancient prose.This thesis investigates writer's temperament of learning,growth environment and official experience,and the background of the age,thus deeply insight writing motivation of Liu Kai 's ancient prose,grasp spirits of the ages of their works.The second chapter mainly discusses the Liu Kai 's ancient prose thought and creation theory.Around the aim of restoring ancient ways,Liu Kai inherited the Confucianism of Han Yu and dominated by inheriting the way of the Saint.In the meanwhile,he put forward the creative theory of basing on Confucianism and production,combining the text with Taoism,enlightening the people,with had a positive effect on the reconstruction of Confucian.The third chapter focus on comprehensive analysis on Liu Kai 's prose creation practice,starting from their works,on the basis of content classification,selecting three kinds of articles respectively of Liu Kai 's ancient prose which are restoring ancient ways,a review of the history and politics,the scenery of human subject,to analyze overall the artistic features of his prose creation,thus highlighting the ancient prose creation personality.The fourth chapter mainly reviewed Liu Kai 's status and influence on the in the history development of ancient prose in the Northern Song Dynasty.Liu Kai is the key characters as a continuity of the ancient prose movement in Tang and Song Dynasty.With their unremitting efforts on constructing the own creative practice for the rational spirit of the Song Dynasty;In addition,this article also investigated the reason why the innovation of restoring ancient ways led by Liu Kai failed.On the one hand,there is a contradiction between ancient prose theory and creation practice,on the other hand,the imperial examination system of Song Dynasty lead to the style of parallelism is popular and the Taoism declined.Epilogue part affirmed Liu Kai 's achievement and status as “ancient prose pioneers”.
