Luo Bin Wang Wen Studies

Luo Binwang is a famous litterateur of the early Tang Dynasty,who is good at parallel prose writing.His parallel prose Wu Zhao Xi(《讨武曌檄》)and Wang Bo’s Teng Wang Ge Xu(《滕王阁序》)is acclaimed as―Two pieces of the most precious jade‖(骈文双璧).Scholars has been concentrated their studies on this official denunciation of the enemy,so that the study of the other articles is insufficient.The more comprehensive exposition about Luo’s prose is still in the last century in90s.In order to make up for the deficiencies in previous studies,his profound thought contained in these prose will be further explored,and the artistic features will be discussed in the round.The thesis could be divided into four parts:The first chapter carries out research on Luo’s life experience and personality.Luo is elder、longer lived and has more complex life experiences among―the four standouts in early Tang Dynasty‖(初唐四杰).He participated in the military operations against Wu Zetian(武则天)in his old age,which made him more legendary.Firstly we will have acquaintances about his official experiences;Then to explore the reason why he participate in Yang Zhou rebellion(扬州叛乱);Finally,comprehend Luo’s personality in three aspects:Ideal personality、Realistic personality and Self personality.The second chapter is the overviews of Luo’s prose.The first is to define What is covered by the concept of"Wen"(文),through the analysis of the definition of parallel prose,and the relationship between parallel prose and Cifu(辞赋).Secondly utilize some important versions of Luo’s Works to inquiry how many Luo’s prose remained in the subsequent dynasties.Discuss whether Luo is the author of Sheng Quan Shi Xu(《圣泉诗序》).Finally the transverse outline,referring to Luo Linhai Set Annotations by Chen Xijin(《骆临海集笺注》)to classify Luo’s forty-seven prose,and state the characteristics of different types.The third chapter is the thought and content of Luo’s prose.The thoughts of The Duicewen Sandao(《对策文三道》)is very representative because it may a piece of imitation or an offer to imperial court.Discuss talent,fate and the ghost.the second section is the analysis of the articles wrote in the long military career;finally the expression of personal feelings is worth of discussion.The fourth chapter is the artistic features of Luo’s prose.The first is the most obvious expression –―Allusion‖ art,discussing about its denseness,flexibility and delicacy.The second section is the characteristic writing skills.The third is about the overall artistic style,including the style of language and the feeling tone.Finally talk about the disadvantages.
