The External Propaganda Text "The Pursuit And Dreams On The Black Land - The History Of The Development Of Heilongjiang Oriental Institute" Chinese-English Translation Practice Report

The history of a university is the backbone of campus culture,and the translation of said university history has become a significant medium for cultural exchange among foreign countries.The source text of this thesis is from an article named The Pursuit and Dream on Black Soil—History of East University of Heilongjiang,written by Professor Yang Bin who is the Director of the Party Committee Office at East University of Heilongjiang.The main features of the source text are as follows: a number of culture-loaded words with Chinese characteristics,such as some ancient poetry and four-character idioms,Chinese compound sentences that are used,the sentence structures that are relatively single,such as serial verb construction,and rhetorical devices such as parallel structure,metaphor and exaggeration.Therefore,in view of the above difficulties,the translator carried out a detailed case analysis and translation summary,hoping to provide future reference for translations of this kind.Meanwhile,the translator hopes that the translation practice can allow foreign readers to clearly understand East University of Heilongjiang so as to enhance its international influence.
