On The Translation Of Chinese Culture-Loaded Words In History Of Chinese Martial Arts-From The Perspective Of Newmark's Translation Theory

With the improvement of China's economy,Chinese culture is gradually attracting the attention of the whole world.The History of Chinese Martial Arts compiled by the national physical culture and Martial Arts Institute is a new leap in the inheritance and theoretical construction of Chinese martial arts skills.One of the major features of this book is the culture-loaded word which contains rich Chinese culture and reflects the national character and cultural characteristics of Chinese culture.This thesis first introduces the definition and classification of culture-loaded words and briefly explains Peter Newmark's translation theory.Secondly,according to Nida's five categories of cultural factors,the culture-loaded words in the book are classified.Finally,combined with Peter Newmark's translation theory,the author of this thesis explored the translation of culture-loaded words from the perspective of semantic translation and communicative translation strategies,and summed up the translation methods of transliteration,transliteration with notes and literal translation in semantic translation,and paraphrase,substitution,image application,omission and additional translation in communicative translation.In the process of translation,it is necessary to resolve the difficulty of comprehension of the target language readers,ensure the fluency of the translation,and preserve the connotation and characteristics of the source language,and introduce the Chinese culture to foreign readers.The author hopes that the research on the translation of culture-loaded words in the translation practice will be helpful for the overall study of culture-loaded words,including translation theories and translation methods,so as to promote the wide spread of traditional Chinese culture and allow more Chinese elements “go global”.
