Historical And Cultural Works Manchuria: Cradle Of Conflict (Chapter 9, 10) English-Chinese Translation Practice Report

Based on the English to Chinese translation of Chapter 9 and Chapter 10 of Manchuria : Cradle of Conflict written by Owen Lattimore,this thesis investigates possible problems in translation and discusses several coping strategies and solutions.This thesis is divided into four chapters: task description,process description,analysis and summary.Typical examples in this report are selected for analysis from two perspectives: lexis translation in historical text and translation of complex sentence,each with two corresponding coping methods.Through the task description and analysis,it is recommended that translators should:(1)make full preparation before the performance,get familiar with background knowledge and ready their tools as well as(2)grasp the macro-structure and clarify the references.
