Recent years have witnessed an increasing research interest in discourse markers, one of the significant fields in linguistic study at home and abroad.Taking the eleventh chapter“Discourse Marker‘bushi??'”of the Study on Discourse Markers in Modern Chinese Language,a linguistic masterpiece produced by Professor Yin Shulin from the Faculty of Arts of Heilongjiang University as the original text, this paper is,by virtue of an exact and professional Chinese-English translation of the text, committed to making this Chinese scholar's outstanding academic achievement accessible to the outside world, thus making a contribution to the implementation of the“Going Global”strategy for Chinese culture and academic research.Besides,on the basis of straightening out the language features of the original, the author makes detailed case analyses of the three major problems encountered in the text translation practice, that is,the English translation of discourse marker“bushi”,of stage directions, and of argumentation sentences;corresponding translation strategies catering to the solution of these problems are also put forward in the paper, hoping to provide some favorable reference for the translation study of similar texts, especially of the discourse marker“bushi”.
