On The Shaping Of The Classic Characters In Dance Poetry

The form dance poem is generally free,has relatively large jump in time and space,while logical connection is not emphasized between paragraphs.The dance poem can be divided into a number of relatively independent dance segments,around a general theme,with flexible and different styles,dancers“recite” the charm of poetry on stage.It can also be said to connect the different segments of dance around the general theme to form a concrete structure.It is most suitable to compare this to the shape of the umbrella,and the phrase “form disperses while the inside does not”.All this time,compared with dance drama,dance poems put more emphasis on being poetic,have more artistic conception and the expression is more abstract.Thus,dance poems think more abstractly in terms of its plots and characters.However,the dance poem is not only an extension of lyrical dance,it also has its own “theme”.This "theme" also has specific characters and events,its only that in the dance poem the logical plot of the characters minimized,whilst the characteristics,emotions and mood of the scene enlarged.This means although the structure in the dance poem seem loose,or the jump in time and space is relatively large,but the specific characters and certain inner clues must exist,otherwise the form of dance poem will become a style completely without“inner” feeling,but it will not have the poetic characteristic that suits the style of dance poems,which is the coexistence of concrete and abstract characteristics.In the poem "we come from Honghu",the performing technique of “strong emphasis on imagery,and relatively smaller emphasis on realism” is used,it means several scenes with the characters Ying Han and Chuang Liu from the original story are still used,but because the story is well known by the general public,we left some of the original plot and the ways the conflict was played out in the original story,but put more emphasis on emotions of the characters and scenes of the story,and the inner feeling and states of the characters behind the event,which makes the character fuller and more vivid.It makes the dance poem not only close the form on dance itself but also stimulate the audience to think themselves.The creation of classical characters in the dance poem is also leveraging on the classical images of the classics,and we use those classical characters to pass onto the audience our subjective feelings personalities and aesthetics.So compared to before,it puts more emphasis on “performance” rather than “reproduction”,and have the entire dance poem gather around the building of classical characters.It doesn't stress too much the content of the story,but puts more emphasis on the continuation of the scenes.This way not only is the style of expression of the dance poem kept,but the“performance” characteristic and scenic way of expressing are also added to the dance poem.This article uses the study and analysis of the of dance poetry,combined with my own creation of the dance poem "we come from Honghu",to discuss the building of classical characters in dance poems.
