The thesis focused on the "Chinese New Year elegant objects paintings" in Qianlong Emperor's court.The painting subject originated in Jiangsu and Zhejiang areas suddenly swept the Qing dynasty court.From the perspectives of the extensive participation of creative groups,the large number of the remaining paintings as well as the great attention of Qianlong Emperor paid to the subject,the "Chinese New Year elegant objects paintings" definitely became the most popular painting subject during the court's festivals.How did the "Chinese New Year elegant objects painting trend" happen?Why did the Manchu ruler Qianlong Emperor pay the great attention to this painting subject?What was the meaning of the subject in the court context?The thesis argues that the "Chinese New Year Elegant Objects paintings" passed into the court by the local officers and painters who served in Qianlong Emperor's court.The series of the counterfeit paintings forced Qianlong Emperor mistakenly believed that they had a history from the Song dynasty,which satisfied his attempt to revive the previous festival tradition in the court.With the interaction between the emperor's preference and ingratiation of the officers and painters,the "retro" identity of this subject had been strengthened.Ultimately,it leaded to a flourishing "Chinese New Year elegant objects painting trend"in the court of Qing dynasty.
